It’s a
virtual world out there and customers, coworkers and business
partners expect timely responses to questions, whether you are
out of town on business, vacationing at a ski resort, or
entertaining a client on a golf course. What is the best way to
do keep in touch?
The “best”
way isn’t the same for all people or all situations, and there
are many options to choose from.
If you rarely
leave the office and you only need to check in while you are on
vacation Outlook Web Access might be the right solution. There
is no need to carry a laptop all you need is to stop by the
concierge desk at the hotel or an internet café and use their
internet connection to access your mail via a browser window.
If you travel
a lot and carry a PC then Outlook over HTTP may be the right
answer. Just plug or wirelessly connect to your home internet
connection, the shared hotel internet access, or the network of
the office you are visiting and open Outlook. When connected to
the internet Outlook will update automatically as if you were
connected at your office.
But what if
you need to be more “virtual”? If you want to get your mail,
and not lug around a laptop or borrow someone else’s internet
access, then you have a couple of other choices. There are two
similar mobile devices, Windows Mobile v5 and BlackBerry, that
combine mobile phone service, internet access and e-mail. Which
you should choose depends on several factors including whether
it is just you and/or two or three others, or if there are
twenty people in your company that need the same access.

your options, and make any or all of them work for you.
